The Challenge:
How do you transform a standard ‘off-the-shelf’ ride into a narrative-driven adventure?

Collaborating with Merlin Magic Making, the creative engine behind Merlin Entertainments, the strategy focused on ‘Thematic Integration’ – ensuring the ride didn't just sit in the new ‘Mayan Village’ area, but felt like an organic, living part of the jungle's deep-rooted story. The challenge was to ensure the attraction complemented the surrounding environment, appearing as a dynamic part of the landscape whether stationary or in motion.

The Concept:
My creative response focused on transforming a mechanical ride system into an ancient, sentient temple. I established the initial artwork to showcase enormous structures that have mysteriously come to life, turning the ride vehicle into a piece of ‘living architecture’. The vision was to maintain storytelling power through every phase of the cycle, ensuring a ‘WOW’ moment for both riders and onlookers. By architecting this visual blueprint, I provided the narrative foundation for the attraction’s final development.

The Experience:
The result moved the guest's emotional state from a simple ‘ride’ to a ‘discovery’, enhancing the journey through the wider themed land. This project proved that even standard mechanical systems can deliver high-level immersion when led by a strong story. By conceptualising the base concept artwork, I helped turn a traditional attraction into a fully immersive themed adventure that feels like a discovery rather than just an install.
